Navigating Children's Grief web-based program provides individuals, families, professionals and the global community with comprehensive evidence-based strategies to help grieving children navigate through the experience of loss, grief and mourning. EP, PhD, APRN, BC
Who is the Course for?
- Anyone who knows grieving children
- Social Workers (Intermediate and Advanced Categories)
- Youth Leaders
- Parents who are not in intense grief
Participants will identify normal and complicated responses to childhood bereavement.
Participants will demonstrate how personal responses to loss impact their responses to bereaved children and teens.
Participants will identify cognitive and emotional responses to loss based on developmental age.
Participants will define psychosocial factors that affect grief and mourning.
Participants will demonstrate competence in childhood bereavement through passing the final exam with a minimum score of 70%. Multiple opportunites are provided for passing the final exam. However, 99% pass the final the first try.
Mary M. Lyles, PhD, LCSW is a respected clinician, educator, author and advocate for bereaved children with over ten years experience in providing counseling, support, training, crisis intervention and consultation to schools, community organizations, children and families during and in the aftermath of losses. Ms. Lyles earned her PhD from the University of Norther Colorado, as well as an MSW and a B. S. in Psychology from the University of Houston. She completed an one-year internship at Baylor College of Medicine, Menniger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in Houston, Texas. Mary is co-founder of the Children's Grief Education Association and maintains a private practice, Katy Family Counseling, in Katy, Texas.
Course Completion Requirements
Complete within 30 days of registering (extension available for a fee).
Complete a pretest.
Complete practice quizzes between lessons.
Complete final exam with a minimum score of 70%.
Complete course evaluation.
Print out your course certificate immediately upon completion. It is found at the end of the course and is available beyond the 30 days for taking the course.
